I think you are asking the wrong crowd. Very few here have waited by choice.
On the other hand I started with a 1500 as an early adopter and same with 6500 and been thrilled the whole time
I did have to wait at the start for hardware but knew that was part of the deal. I have really enjoyed the incremental development process with a new and better radio on a regular basis. Even contributing to bug finding etc.
The radios speak for themselves. After a few weeks with the latest version one gets hungry for the next serving and then start waiting again.
There is definitely something worth waiting for.

So...I hope this clears a few things up. As Gerald mentioned above, we are about the release SmartSDR v1.4 (FREE!) and we will release SmartSDR v1.5 (Also FREE!) when the engineering team completes their noise mitigation R&D project. At some point in the future – likely in later 2015 – we will offer SmartSDR v2.0 for a $199.00 USD license fee.
So now you can get on the phone first thing tomorrow....:)
it comes along, and possibly a bit beyond it. Check with Flex on the upgrade policy for new purchases. Keep the 1500 for comparisons and as backup.
Welcome to the exciting world of SDR.
Don't wait. Get your 6300 now! Have an incredible amount of fun and awe now. Have even more as new releases are made available.
Thanks again for the replies. I'll carry-on playing with the 1500 a while longer, I've got an issue with double imaging on the odd occasion that I'm trying to solve.
6300 sits next to a FT2000, a radio that looks very nice and one that I said would never sell but sadly although I've not sold it yet it's days are numbered as it's now a very expensive second pc monitor stand .
If you are reading this and are thinking should I go SDR or not , only you can decide but when you do you will not be disappointed.
