Reading about Smart sdr for ISO. One of the requirements for Remote Operations was VPN connection
( VPN software and hardware not included ). What is this requirement?

Currently you must be on the same IP Subnet for anything to address your Flex 6000 remotely at least until V2.0 SSDR WAN is released

This also applies to SSDR for iOS

VERY EASY TO DO.

How?   - You set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that bridges the IP address inside you LAN to the outside world via a VPN Connection.

The Good news is that iOS devices already have a VPN Client built into them - in my case I use the L2TP client on my iPhone and iPad ( but there are several others)

At my home station I use SoftEther (its FREE) VPN server

SEARCH Softether on this forum for LOTS of EXAMPLES

Use something simple like urcall.softether.net when setting up your server

then do a lookup to see if it has propagated.

Use something like www.network-tools.com to check to see if your VPN server is being seen on the Internet.

what Im not understanding is why it works perfectly on the windows tablet.  which means it is working properly.  There is something different on the iPhone side? maybe because I am using the soft ether client on the tablet?

Your IOS device will work fine with SoftEther.  Follow my video to setup your home SoftEther VPN server, and it will work fine with your IOS device.  SmartSDR for IOS works great over it.

I can vouch for the fact that SmarSDR for iOS works fine over VPN

Loaded the latest version just before going to lunch.  Put it on my iPhone.. VPN connection to the house. Driving to lunch playing SSDRiOS over the Bluetooth in the car via IPhone.. Heard NPOTA station calling .. Got him barefoot - he said my audio was great and complimented me on using the latest miracle technology..

Howard,

The server settings shouldn't be any different for a Windows L2TP client or for your IOS L2TP client. That leaves the IOS device for troubleshooting, not the server.
