Anyone using one of these to remotely turn their Flex on and off? I have the documentation and software - but sort of hard to follow the guidance.

Also, it seems there is a "cloud" option so it can be used while away from your LAN (would be useful when WAN becomes available).

Looks like it has a built-in WiFi system for local control, and the ability to connect to your home LAN wirelessly. Tricky thing will be setting your router to port forward from the internet side to this device - I didn't see what port it uses. Once you get it sorted, it should work fine. I use a Global Cache device in the same way.

    Good luck!

    Alan,

I have been using this device for a few months now and it works fine, but sometimes it can be tricky to get it setup given the lacking documentation.

The device does work on the WAN, but you need to create an account with them, which can be done within the phone/computer application.

Also when in the LAN, press and hold on the device icon and there will be an option to register it. That will allow you to register the device under your account on their server.

I use two WEMO's. One for rebooting computer and a second for rebooting my 6700. Really easy to set up and operate my system when remote. I can even upgrade radio and computer software when remote.

I've been using Ubiquity's three port mFi -- wifi controllable -- powerstrip. It works great You can use their fancy web based interface or just make an ssh connection directly to the powerstrip and control each of the three outlets from the command line. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CXWS848/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
