I'd love to operate my 6300 remotely but I can't type worth a damn and I'd love to be able to use my bug or straight key.  Other than buying a Maestro, is there any other way to do it???

Talk to Matt, NQ6N. He has something in testing that uses the Maestro API.

Matt's solution requires no external hardware (other than a USB to serial and winkeyer)

It works, is simple and does the job.

For straight keying you can connect a key. For iambic keying you need an external winkeyer.

Simple USB to serial does it.

No real problems. The UI is spartan but that's OK.

All it does is simply supply the key on/off command as well as the required timing sequence. Has a simple radio chooser but doesn't yet support smartlink (but it works over VPN). So you wire up your USB to serial port to your straight key OR hardware winkeyer, and you're good to go.
