Recording QSO TX AND Rx simultaneously - Plan B

Okay, "viewers", on to Plan B:

Substitute a much more sturdy, shielded analog to USB sound converter device for the $8 one used in Plan B. The rest is, surprisingly, the same. Listen on a Dax Receive channel and feed the USB signal from the 6700 speaker output into a sound recorder on the computer with the Monitor setting adjusted. But where to find such a sturdy device...

Well, I just happened to have one "on the truck" in the form of a Mackie ProFX8 8 channel compact mixer (now they sell the v2 version - all I can see if they've brightened up the knob colors).

Results: (guarded) SUCCESS!

In mock T/R with full RF output to a local dummy load (that overloaded the $8 convertor just as badly) there was no noticeable RF caused distortion. I will do some real world testing later today, but it seems like "we have a working kludge, Houston", "we have a GO, I repeat, we have a Go"

What can I say, "Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." Ain't that what it's all about?
