Receive-Only Antenna RF PRO-1B

 Am really close to purchasing a Flex-6300, but before I do just one question.  I see the Flex has two antenna ports.  If I wish to use a receive antenna incorporating an amplifier how can I be sure a simple finger slip will not zap my antenna with 100 watts?

Hook it up to the XVTR connector on the 6300.   You can still accidentally send about 10mW out but nothing like 100W!    I have that antenna on my 6700's  "RX B In" BNC connector.   I love that antenna especially mixed with Diversity.   It also cuts out the urban noise when a neighbor does something annoying.  Good luck!

Many SDR Transceiver operators use the MFJ-1708 to fully protect a separate Rx Antenna input when RF is present :-)

The MFJ-1708 has a relay, which I do not want for QSK, but may be fine for SSB folks.

Also,  I swapped out the relay based power injector on my RF PRO-1B with one from here:

It is solid state and completely silent since I like to do QSK on CW.

The PRO-1B power unit has a TX line already built in.  Just connect it to one of the Rear Panel TX RELAY OUTPUTS [1,2,3]  and the antenna will be taken out of the transmit loop.

I am currently using the Pixel power injector, but I also have the Clifton unit to try as well.  I am keeping everything on 12Vdc in my motor home.  12Vdc is not quite enough power for the Pro-1b out put is only 10Vdc to the preamp. 


I found a really nice 12Vdc to 24Vdc DC t DC Converter on Amazon.  Checked this with a scope and it is very, very low noise at the 24Vdc output.  Works great with the Pro-1b
