Problem with SmartSDR for iOS app running on my iPad

I purchased the SmartSDR for iOS app and installed it on both my iPad3 and iPhone6S. The app runs great on the iPhone but when I try to run it on the iPad it will connect to my 6500 and opens a slice.I get audio and can move the slice across the screen to tune in other stations. However, when I open one of the side menus and touch a selection, the screen locks up and I can get no response from anywhere on the screen. The slice is still there and receiving the station I was tuned to. The only way to get out of the app is kill it by pressing the reset to home button on the bezel of the iPad. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and any suggestions as to what can be done to fix this problem? The iPad3 has all software updates and is running IOS version 9.3.4. All other apps and functions are working fine on the iPad. I would appreciate any help. I really like the app and hope to get it running on the iPad.
Thanks,

Ah! Success. Thanks Winston, Wayne and Ken for your help. After shutting down all
The apps running in background , choosing the slower net and slowing down the waterfall the
iOS app is running fine on my iPad now. As always , the community is so very helpful.
Thanks again.
