Power off persistance

Rich McCabe
Rich McCabe Member ✭✭✭
For some reason my 6600 is not always retaining the settings when it s powered off.  Its not all the time but often. Not a big deal as I use global profiles and easy to get back but have never had this issue. It has always powered back up exactly in the same state as when it was shut down.

Below is a typical restart. There were two slices open (one in each panafall) when it was powered off. This has happened about a 1/2 dozen times in the last few days.

Rich

That is a persistence issue and is not behaving as it should. You need to clear the persistence data.

I am guessing it is related to the fact that the radio was last switched to that frequency with a third party program like bandmaster or WSJT-X.

If you know another program is effecting your radio then It could be. The radio on startup should start the way you left it, everything is remembered. Unless something else changes things. you can simply test this by making sure all programs are closed before shutting down, then re start and test persistence.

After doing some reading Flex has mentioned in the past that persistence can be an issue when the last state  frequency was commanded by a 3rd party program. It is handled differently than if SmartSDR had set the frequency.  I have been using Bandmaster a lot lately for following spots and of course WSJT-X controls frequency when I use it.

Possibly. It seems Flex would have resolved this after a few years as its common now to control the Flex via 3rd party apps like DDUTIL, FRstack and the ones I mentioned above.

There is nothing to resolve, SSDR works just as intended. When controlled by another program is not an SSDR problem.

You are the one that is always touting that Flex was designed and built for 3rd party apps.  So you are contradicting yourself Bill.

It could be resolved. The question is will they do so.

Besides I dont know this is even the issue here. I am just basing it on some post that are two years old.

SSDR is created to have SSDR apps giving us more options in doing things. SSDR is working as intended. In the past it has been up to the app writer to make sure the program works properly with SSDR and make any needed changes that is needed. So, I don't imagine Flex will make changes to SSDR to suit any 3rd party app.

In the past, there have been many suggestions made to several 3rd party writers to fine tune the apps. And they will.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but this is not a persistence issue.  This looks more like a race condition where the slices are not getting created when the radio boots up.  I have entered this as defect #6152
