Power meter

Submitted for consideration --

Could the front panel display on the 6500/6700 become home to a Power/SWR meter? As much as I admire my own callsign, I don't need it all the time in the window and would love to see some good data!

Then we could use the front panel switch to check voltage, current, temperature, GPS quality, time, IP address, and all kinds of cool, geeky things.

Added my vote. It Looks like this idea from a few years ago....so it's on the list but didn't get a lot of votes. https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/front_panel_display_an_idea Regards, Al / NN4ZZ

Added my vote, even though I would not be able to see the window remotely, I like the idea.

power meter maybe, thinking more along the lines of radio status.. i.e. voltage, temp, maybe frequency..

Maybe a bar graph along the bottom for power, and rocker switch selectable digits for SWR, ALC, temp, voltage, etc? The possibilities are wide open.

I agree though, looking at my call sign is great and all but other info would be much better

Outstanding idea. I'd love it. The only problem is that is sure to be seen as "window dressing"... So I'll bet it's unlikely to happen in the short to medium term future. Peter K1PGV

"Window dressing" in many ways is what sells radios.

Hi Peter, Would agree, nice feature....the same basic idea was submitted 2 years ago....but it's not a high priority. I'm not saying it should be a high priority, there are lots of other ideas that have more votes, and probably other enhancements we may not even be aware of that FRS ranks higher. https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/front_panel_display_an_idea The good news with SDR is so many things are possible. I have a 6400M and I would like to see mic and headphone jacks on the front of the radio. I seldom change mics but when I want to use the headphones it's because I need them and don't want to pull the radio out and fumble around in the back trying to plug in the headphones.
