I attempted to enter my name to be on the waiting list, but when I entered it I got the following, what did I do wrong?

Give FRS a shout by phone after the weekend or by email now ? Website glitch shouldn’t get in the way of your order.

Hope you like your PGXL when it comes. Works really well for me.

PG-XL waiting list?  I'm sure FRS already knows who has put down their deposit and are waiting.  Is the purpose of this list to indicate those that haven't put down a deposit, but eventually plan to?

Burt - It looks like FRS changed their PG-XL ordering process.  When I preordered my PG-XL (Dec-2017) it required I make a $1,000 deposit.  I don't see that anymore.

I agree. My policy is to never pay a deposit for ham equipment. I bought the 6400M when it was available from stock.

The pre-purchase/deposit route can be a bit of a double edged sword.  Sometimes there's a cost benefit to going this route, and/or perhaps a peripheral device is thrown in to sweeten the pot, but at the risk of purchasing the first design models, then the risk of having your pre-purchased version superseded by an improved model in short order.  The first generation Maestro orders are a good example.  On the plus side, owners of the pre-ordered/purchases are first on the block to be able to use the new technology.

I don't mind the pre-order/deposit risk.  I just wish FRS would make design changes  backward compatible with the first/early generation units.

You will not see me give a company a deposit over $25 to be the first on my block. Credit card purchases are protected against loss for the first 60 days but this amp has deposits over a year. If I gave a $1000 a year ago it would have cost me $1200, the $200 being return on a stock investment I couldn't make.

Burt,

Sorry for the trouble you are experiencing with getting your name on the waiting list. I just tested it and it seems to be working fine. Are you still having the problem? If so, can you try another browser to see if that resolves the issue?

Regarding the deposit, we are now taking an interest list instead of a deposit.

Thank you again,
