Please welcome Michael, VA3MW as Community Mayor Pro Tem

Starting tomorrow afternoon, I will be taking a temporary medical leave of absence for several weeks and Michael, VA3MW will be the Community Mayor Pro Tem in my absence.  I have no doubt that Michael will perform spectacularly in his new Community role.  This role will be a secondary responsibility for him as he is the primary salesperson for FlexRadio, so his Community responses may not be as timely as mine. Please be patient and show him the same respect and kindness as you extend to me.

In that regard, I have a few reminders.  First, do not violate the "First Rule of Holes", which is if you find yourself in one, stop digging; meaning if you are not getting a sufficient remedy to your issues via the Community, please use the HelpDesk.  Opening a HelpDesk support ticket, particularly if you believe your issue may be hardware related or an issue with our software, is the official way to receive support from FlexRadio Systems.  But be mindful, the HelpDesk is not your ham radio elmer, that is the primary function of the Community.

Also, this is not a time to go crazy like you probably did when a substitute teacher taught your class in school.  Michael has full authority to manage the Community based on our common sense guidelines and etiquette.  As a friendly reminder, I have posted them below for your review.

When using the Community always show respect to others regardless of their opinions. Give people the benefit of the doubt, just like you would if talking to them in person. Posts that include personal attacks, overtly negative comments, non-constructive criticism, falsehoods, defamation of character, libelous speech, or gratuitous profanity will be removed, as they do not contribute to the community atmosphere we want to maintain. Any pattern of poor behavior may result in losing your Community posting privileges.

Now you may be wondering why I am taking a short-term medical leave of absence.  It is nothing too serious or life-threatening. I performed an unplanned experiment to test the intensity of the gravity well created by the Earth and in the process dislocated my shoulder.  That resulted in tearing three tendons in my shoulder that I must have surgically repaired. As I heal from surgery, I'll be back on station, more and more frequently until I am 100%.

So be nice to Michael.  If I have to help him out while in a narcotic fog, there is no telling what I may say or do ;-)

Best of luck Tim.   I am going to miss our morning phone calls for the next few weeks!

I know the awesome people on the community will help out all those new to their Flex radios with some excellent support and help as they navigate through the features.

Good Luck Tim, be careful with the bicept tendon.  I tore mine after rotator cuff surgery and now I look like popeye.  Several docs said I wouldn't fix it..... then they showed me their arm and wow they had it too......  Stay in the sling.......

Good luck Tim!  We'll miss you, of course.  I hope all goes well and your surgery is successful and your rehab rehab is swift.

Welcome Michael.  You have awfully big shoes to fill, even if you're doing so temporarily.  I wish you the best of luck as well.

Though a tough act to fill-in for, I'm sure Michael will do very well.
