The cost fiber networking has become economical enough that support for it should be included in any and all future radio and accesory models. This can be accomplished by building the gear with an SFP port for the network connectivity as the default, or as a secondary option. Fiber will help mitigate RFI ingress points and provide a degree of isolation for lightning as well. Building out a mostly LC connector fiber in-shack network is now only marginally more costly than Cat 5 or 6 is, but has many advantages in radio gear environments. Yes you can readily find fiber / copper media converters inexpensively. But why not build the gear to not require them at all?
