If they fix the NB, I will do the happy dance!  Everything else is icing on the cake for me.  I wish I didn't live in such a noisy environment.

The NB and NR in the 5000 were as good as from mine IC 7800.  Waiting for 1.5 update to see what the omprovements will be.

Hi Burch,

I agree, that even though the NB has been working good for my kind of noise, making it possible to still hear stations, it is of no help on the panadaptor. The noise total wipes out the display making the panadaptor useless for seeing signals.

Burt, every radio come equipped with a contest filter, the Flex is no exception. It is the big power switch on the front.. Guaranteed to filter all contesters if you push it right.  hi..

On the positive side, though I am not a contester, I do enjoy making some contacts with stations that normally would not acknowledge my weak signal. During a contest they go to great efforts to copy me (I must be a multiplier or something like that). In the end after a bunch of giving my call and signal report several times, I am always rewarded with a 59... hi..

The filter you describe removes the good with the bad.

I must have had contact with 500 PSK stations, EVERY single one gave me a 599.

Yes early versions had more gain and could pop weak signals out of the floor. That changed about 1.3.

Since CW, SSB, AM and Digi have lots of built-in one-click filter selections, its time for standard tone (high and low) RTTY filters to be built in, along with FSK.

Yup... I'm surprised at not having marked band edges etc... It's a "gotcha" while spectrum cruising.  What about  markers (like the band edges in PSDR) that can be placed where the user wishes ? That would be Great to mark band edges & also any other noteworthy locations.  A labelling function would really make this feature useful...

Would like to see the ATU optional on receive. Frequently monitor 4 bands of JT-65, when the ATU is engaged on one band the sensitivity of the other bands may suffer.

I would like for the yellow line and TX width that marks the frequency on the Panadapter to go through into the waterfall.

Please don't forget to support the RTTY offset and bandwidth so we can click on a spot and radio will jump to the proper freq and BW for Fldigi or MMTTY or whatever decoder we're using....

I don't know if filling in the panadaptor display (as in PSDR) would have an adverse effect on b/w?  It makes for a much neater and more legible display. Also, at present I use TNF markers to display band edges, and even though I know I can't accidentally transmit out of band this was handled much better on PSDR.  Minor details I know, but IF they are easy to implement they would tidy things up nicely.

ATU memory is important to me; having to retune every band change is a real nuisance (yeah, I know, get a better antenna!).  I don't want to invest in an external ATU if this is planned for the next release, but one would make life easier in the meantime.

My main list...

1) The DSP "Science Project" on all DSP items - NB, NR, ANF, APF, TNF (although TNF is working superbly)  If they get this right, WOW what a rig this will be!

2) ATU Memories - no more need to retune after changing band, mode, TX profile, ANT port, etc.  This is my biggest time waster in a competitive situation.

3) Streamline and unify the Profiles, Memories, Band registers, etc. so that they all work seamlessly -- not having different characteristics for each method of entering a frequency.

4) Automated AGC-T settings, with adjustable "knee" point.

5) Dual-peak RTTY Filters, adjustable "sweet-spot" frequencies, for easy click & go RTTY operation.

6) Band / Sub-band markers - either pre-edited, or editable by the user.

7) GUI & Display improvements - many have been floated by NN4ZZ and others.

If even the first half of this list is in V.1.5 I would be very pleased, and could wait until 1.6 for the rest of it!

Ken,
Good summary! This is the release I've been waiting for. And I know others have too. Hopefully 1.5 ( and 1.6 if needed) will be able to deliver all of this.

Yes to all your points, especially to 4, as I have sometimes problems with setting AGC-T.
