No RF out with WSJT-X and SmartSDR 1.5/DXLAB

Flex 6300, SSDR v1.5.1.70.  Using DXLAB Commander v11.9.3 as radio in WSJT-X.    I am new to Flex.  I had WSJT-X working FB and made QSOs.  When I returned to WSJT-X I was unable to make any contacts.  I did NOT click on my saved profile.  This is probably the root of the problem.  So, trying to get JT back I changed something and when I did I received the profile.  Mistake because the error is now in the profile.

I can copy FB, watching this mornings DX scroll by.  I cannot get the rig to transmit.  I realize that this may be a single click somewhere but I have been unable to find the key.  Trying to transmit/receive using DAX Channel 1.  DAX Control Panel shows Slice 1 TX, streaming when on receive.  TX Gain shows nothing when attempting to transmit.  IQ Stream shows 1 is streaming.  DAX button on the right side of screen is lit.  JT is trying to transmit, the waterfall (JT) stops but the rig does not transmit.

Bottomline is that I don't know in which of the three programs my setting is incorrect.  Advice on steps to solve would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I would start with...In Settings file, on WSJT-X, check your COM Port and make sure it conforms to your PORT settings in CAT.

Thanks!  WSJT-X set to Com4.  CAT indicates WSJTX on Com4.

Not sure if you're using CAT or VOX in WSJT's settings to TX, but I've had a similar issues that I face almost daily....

Here's what I do to resolve the issue. I'm using VOX to key the rig. I'll load up everything as normal, but when I hit the TUNE button in WSJT-X, the program sends audio, which I can verify by pulling up DAX's control panel, but SSDR doesn't key. Leave TUNE on, so that audio is being sent, and click the MOX button in SSDR. Boom, there's audio flowing for me. I'll click and unclick MOX a few times, and click TUNE in WSJT-X to stop sending a carrier. Then, with no manual MOX intervention, I'll click TUNE again and now VOX should be working. If not, rinse and repeat the steps above. Sometimes it takes a cycle or two of this manual MOX intervention to get the audio flowing the way it should.

If you're trying to use DXLabs to key the rig for you, give VOX a shot, which has worked well for me.

    Fred,
I am going through the exact same thing. I pretty sure you will see that the DAX is being corrupted some how. I am (at this moment) wiping and reloading Windows 10 (for the third time) in an attempt to get things back running correctly. I'll be slowly and methodically reloading the apps, i.e. SSDR, DXLab and then WSJT-X. I plan to just have SSDR and DXLab Commander running for sometime, then I'll add WinWabler with all it modes for some time and then WSJT-X. I've have everything running fine; then things just go nuts and neither WSJT-X nor any of the digital features of WinWabler work. I'll let you know if it discover anything.

Mike, sorry if this is blindingly obvious, but take backups at each stage so that if something breaks, you will not have to go back to square one each time. I backup daily after being caught out by backing up only weekly. My backup runs ate the end of my computing day and switches off the PC.

Fred, DXLab Commander is not exactly the best program for WSJT-X control, to say the least.

Try this: Install, run and setup MiniDeluxe for the CAT om port of SmartCat.
Then create a PTT port in SmartCAT.
Setup WSJT-X for HamRadioDeluxe and the CAT port you created.
    Bingo!

And if you want easy logging and a lot more digital modes, use HRDLog and DM780.
WSJT-X can then log directly to HRDLog using JT-AlertX.

I have used MiniDeluxe for over a year with no issues.  It is also great for using the other parts of the HRD suite (DM780 and Logbook) without the processing issues associated with the HRD radio panel.

I have to admit this sounded pretty convoluted but it works.  Now to save the profile, close it all down, and try again.  Thanks, Rob

Rob, I shut it down and refired it and it still works.  Many thanks for your help!

Not sure why you would want or need any 3rd program in there as a go between... I'm running WSJT-X connecting straight to SmartSDR with JTAlert...

When I send the "73" message in WSJT-X it is automatically logged into DXKeeper in DXLAB.

Gotcha... Well I'd start from the beginning.. one thing to check is open the DAX control panel, when you transmit does it happen to go to an incorrectly selected slice?  Also is the DAX button selected in the slice receiver? Another place to check it open your sound devices and look in there to see where the transmitted sig maybe sent to...   unfortunately I have no experience with DXLAB or DXkeeper

    Guy,
You are correct. As soon as I'm sure things are stable, I'll do that. I have a minimal load of apps at the moment and use an SDD just for them; so rebuilding a not really a problem and that way I know for sure there are not any artifacts left behind causing a problem. Thanks and 73,
    Mike, NA5U
