Microphone location /connection

I've spent several days now with my new 6400 and the only complaint so far is the location/type of the microphone connections. Can't use the foster connection as before on 6300 so makes my MD-100 useless without a $40 adapter cable only available through Flex. Furnished Mic cable is really too short

I think this will be a common complaint.

But I would think you can buy an adapter anywhere or build one yourself.

I have a 6600m coming and I am OK with mic and key on the back but not happy about headphones.  I already have extension cables made.

Won't be long before someone comes out with a breakout box. Been there done that with MacBooks and docking for desktop use. N6OIL

I was going to do that but in reality my mic and key going in the back is the preferred method.  Just not the headphones.

I see a new after market project to bring all three out on very low small interface box.

Normal old Radio Shack six foot extension will do it!

If this is the only complaint, these radios are going to be terrific! My 6500 sure was and I expect my new 6700 to be even better.

If you do a search in the forums you can find the needed information. Also Flex has some accessories for sale also to convert from 4 and 3 pin XLR to mini. I guess also it depends on what mic you are using too.

I'm using a broadcast mic (3 Pin XLR) and order a cable from amazon. Also I'm using a foot switch which I had to convert from 1/4 to RCA. Yet an adapter from amazon.

The only little tiny complaint I have is the power switch / button doesn't take much to trigger. Just looking at it makes it go off or on it seems.

But I'm totally have with radio. First three contacts where all DX stations.
