Mic bias selection

On my Flex 6300 there is 5v on pin 2 of the front mic connector irrespective of whether the 'BIAS' button on the Transmit is window is selected or not - is this normal?

Yes, Pin 2 is +5 volts, bias turns voltage on pin 1.  73 s Jim K4JAF

Posting this brought up thread on the SSDR category which appears to answer this...sorry for the qrm - must check the frequency before transmitting.

Actually, the microphone hot lead is on pin 8, according to other posts from Gerald and Tim, W4TME, not pin 1. The bias of 2.97 VDC would thus be applied to pin 8 when activated via the GUI.

Yes pin 8 is correct Mic pin.  Yaesu (Flex) uses pin 8 not 1.
