Why would you want to do that as the tuner in your radio is much better then the MFJ ?

You can, especially if you didn't get the internal tuner option or if you are running an amp.  However, a much better external tuner is the Elecraft KPA500.  It's an automatic band switching memory tuner that keeps you from having to tune when you change bands.

Yeah, a typo.  I have the KAT500 tuner AND the KPA500 amp.  They both work great with my 6300.
