Magnetic loop antenna tuning

Hi is there any possibility to tune a magnetic loop ,made by Ciro Mazzoni with DDutil or directly by the USB port from my 6500.

The MIDI loop works perfectly from 80 to 20 meters, but have to be tuned separately  by typing the frequency on the antenna unit.

I hope it will be possibly like the Steppir tuning from the wonderful DDutil program......

I think you would have to check with Ciro Mazzoni to find out if the antenna would accept any other band data info beside its own controller. If it is proprietary you might be out of luck.

Thanks Salvador for your quick reply.
Other brands of Radio seams to work with the controller .
Kenwood for example takes the frequency information from the radio in to the antenna controller and adjust the antenna.
so if the 6500 "speaks" directly or by DDutil to the controller i hoped the flex could do the same  trick

Then you might be able to use the BIT USB connection.

Hi Salvador,
Thanks again for your answer. I will look into the USB opportunities .
I was not aware of these usb possibilities.
I still use an old version of the software. I need to update :)

Have you got the old I3VHF controller or the new one they are shipping now, Jaap?

I was told at Xena that the new controller will follow the RX using CAT of some of the major manufacturers. Not sure about Flex.

Hi Lloyd,

I have the new controller with the antenna.
Kenwood, Yeasu and Icom will work with the controller (that's in the manual )

til now I did not tried to connect to the radio with the USB - Bit cable.

last year we moved to a new house and the shack is stil not ready :(
maybe you know what you have to do when you are moving to a new house....... The radio hobby has to wait for a while.

I also have the old 1.6 software version in the 6500, with out the USB possibility.
I,m working on the shack now .
Soon the radio hobby is in business again :):)
It wold be nice the antenna follows the radio without the manual tuning on the controller.

Hi Jaap, I had contact with Ciro a couple of months ago and below his reply to my question if the loop will work on the Flex. Maybe you can contact him and ask what the status is now.

Hi Eric, the ATU 2.0 works with every HF transceiver. The “Full auto mode” that allows direct tuning from the VFO of transceivers, currently works with ICOM, YAESU, ELECRAFT and KENWOOD transceivers with data port by the I/O RS 232 interface (optional). Somebody is successfully using it with Flexradio but we haven't tested Flexradio, yet. If I can further assist, do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi Eric, thanks for your information.
I will contact Ciro and ask him about the full auto mode for the flex.

As I suspect the interface is just CAT then the flex is effectively a Kenwood radio (FRS CAT is an extension of the Kenwood protocol) so it should work. If you are using a recent version of SmartSDR then you should be able to use a USB serial port plugged into the back of the flex and connect it to the antenna controller.

Hi - I'm considering the Ciro MIDI mag loop as well, for use with Flex 6700 and 6300. Curious whether anyone has actually been able to get the VFO to auto tune the Cirro.

Hi Rick not yet.
Last week I ordered two (FTDI chip) serieel to USB converter cables.
As soon these come in I will test them and will answer on this forum

Yes it works FB!

The FTDI chip usb to serieel  adapter did not worked directly.
I put a nul modem adapter between the auto tuning A.T.U 2 unit and the usb to serieel cable and it works :)

You have to put the autotuning unit of the mag loop at the kenwood setting in the menu of the A.T.U 2

The USB cable at the Flex menu you have to set to CAT

when I change band or frequency the A.T.U.2 tunes the loop after two seconds

Thank you all for your suggestions and answers at my questions
