MacLogger DX Using API for Frequency Control & Display causes DAX Stream

MacLogger DX by Dogpark Software is one of the first logging software on any OS platform to utilize the Flex Radio API (via Stu - K6TU author of the
smartsdr-objective-c framework) to talk to the Signature Series radios (6000).

I have noticed that anytime I start MacLogger DX, configured to work with my 6300, A DAX audio stream is instantiated.  At the current level of the FlexLib API, when the developer only intends to control/display the frequency, mode, slice of the radio, is the DAX Audio Stream just a tag-along appurtenance?

If this is working as designed per the API, I would ask that FRS to consider to make these functions individually executable/controllable  in future versions.  If it this is not normal function of the current FlexLib, does anyone have an idea what Don Agro might be doing incorrectly so that he could be advised?

So... Just a technical nit:  K6TU's Objective C Framework doesn't use FlexLib.  Flexlib is for use by .Net languages (such as C#, VB.Net, and F#).  The K6TU Framework is an alternative to Flexlib that lets you write code in Objective C.  The K6TU Framework sends and receives packets from the LAN directly.

I've never used K6TU's Framework, but from a Flexlib point of view and from the point of the LAN protocol, there's no reason that a DAX Audio Stream need be instantiated.

Somebody familiar with K6TU's Framework can tell you if there's anything in that framework that would automagically instantiate a DAX Audio Stream.

Much appreciated for the well-needed clarification!

    Stu, can you comment?

If a DAX steam is being created, its because one was configured via SmartSDR and is persisted (saved) in the state information maintained by the radio.  The DAX channel is being added by the radio based on persistence information when you start the radio.

Just use SmartSDR to go to the slice and set the DAX channel to none.

Neither MacLoggerDX or the API framework I wrote will initiate a DAX session un-commanded.

    Hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the quick answer!  I knew that someone would have the answer.  I will modify my global SSB settings to not have a DAX channel enabled.
