Low monitor audio

Since purchasing my 6300 about 2 years ago, I've noticed that the monitor function on SSB is virtually unusable due to low audio.  I never paid it much attention because I seldom use headphones.  However, I am strating to use my Heil HC-6 Pro more these days and I'd like to be able to use the monitor.  The volume of the monitor is just barly audible with the monitor gain at 100% and the headphone and master volumes at normal listening levels.  Also, the audio that I do hear is distorted.  Currently running SSDR 2.61 but it has been this way since I got the rig (refurbed from Flex).  Could this be a hardware issue?  Thanks.

If you turn the headphone slider to the right, you should be able to adgust the MON to you liking.
The headphone slider is at the top right hand corner. Slide it all the way right.
