Loss of receive on one band when adding 2nd Slice Receiver

edited March 2017 in SmartSDR for Windows

With receiver Slice 1 on 40 meters DIGU, when adding Slice 2 to the same band, all signal disappeared from Slice 1, with waterfall full black. Slice 2 Panadapter showed no signals, with normal waterfall display for the Panadapter display.  Only 40 meters was affected.

On Tune, normal transmit signal was present, as seen on Power Meter and external spectrum analyser.

Restarting SmartSDR did not restore 40 meter band reception.

All other bands behaved normally.

Rebooting radio did not restore 40 meter operation

After several minutes of head scratching, discovered that the Antenna had been switched ANT 2.  Once placed on ANT 1, normal received to both Slices on 40 meter was restored.

It seem that although Receive antenna was switch to ANT 2, the radio remained on ANT 1 as evidenced by normal Tune transmit operation.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Thanks,

Javier

The issue you encountered is probably due to band/slice/Panadapter level persistence.  If you ever set a band/slice/Panadapter on ANT2 it will remember that setting and change to it when you create the slice.  Since you only have one SCU in the 6300, the other panadapte or slice will change to that SCU/antenna combination.  We have a program change request in our bug tracker to not override and existing or current SCU antenna configuration when creating a new panadapter or slice.
