Logging Software. What are you using for logging software with the Flex 6400 and Maestro? I have Ham Radio Deluxe HRD. It basically takes over your radio operations. HRDlog. net is a Web based logging that interfaces with HRD. Any suggestions?

I use Log4OM, has lots of interesting and informative areas within it. Works great, very good support.
Used with Flex6500 here, should work the same with the 6400 I would think.
Nice integration with Google Earth showing grid squares worked and station info, etc. etc.

I purchased a license for HRD in the past but have switched to AC Log. I think AC Log represents the best combination of functionality and ease of use. My product review is at https://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1565

Been using HRD since 2012. Before upgrading to the new paid version a few months ago I evaluated all the usual suspects .. But ended up with HRD again. To used to it and it is a very well thought through software package, with most of what one could need.

Fan of Log4OM also, use it with Dropbox so I have seamless logging from the PC or laptop.

I will say this is one of the most active forums! Thanks, since I have HRD already, I will probably go with it initially. Although I would like to use another callsign look up database besides QRZ.com@ 30.00 a year.

Thanks again!

Guess you have already noticed that the old free 5 version works well with Flex. Had no issues using it before upgrading to 6. But 5 is old and lacks updates on DXCC countries and much more. That triggered my update. Never been able to find a alternative to QRZ.com database for callsign lockup.

I use HRD for logging using one data base and use file sharing. Often I only start the logging to reduce space on CPU no rig control. Use WSJT-X with the logging and DM780.

Personal preference I guess.

DXLab Suite and N1MM+ are awesome and free. Both authors are highly respected and in "continuous improvement" mode with their software.

I use HRD for daily logging just because I have been using it so long. I do not run the main program.

I run DDUtil which interfaces the Flex to various hardware and programs. In DDUtil there is an HRD server function which will allow you to just run Logbook or DM780 without running the main program.

Two more utilities, Slice Master and Mini Deluxe can also be used to eliminate need to run the main program. No need for two GUIs to run the radio.

Thanks Dave,

I will be using the Maestro. Does the logbook still run on the secondary computer I assume? In contesting, for example, you use the lookup function to fill your logbook entry, and it tells you if you worked the contact in the past. I assume that still happens on the secondary computer.

It would be nice if the SDR software opened a tab or frame to interface to external logging software, or external programs in general. Browser support as well.

Thanks!

Logbook and whatever method you use to get it to talk to the radio for freq and mode info (Mini Deluxe, DDUtil. Slice Master) would run on a separate PC.

There is no capability at this time to do a pop up on Maestro for logging. No word if that will ever happen.

I will be using my 6600/Maestro/laptop at Field Day this year. 6600, power supply and network gear are away from the operator position. I run two network cables for the Maestro and laptop.
