Invalid default playback device selected: DAX MIC Audio -- no TX audio transmitting.

I recently upgraded to SmartSDR 2.1.30.103 with my 6300 and I noticed a note next to the headphone/speaker controls at the top right-hand part of the SSDR screen.   It said "!PC Audio"  When I hovered over it, it said that an invalid default playback device selected: FlexRadio systems DAX TX and I noticed that while PPT worked on the microphone, no audio was being transmitted.  The DAX control panel shows that The TX stream is enabled.  DAX Mic Audio is selected as the default device in the Recording tab of the sound card.  Since I rarely use phone, I didn't notice things wrong with SSB tx.  CW works just fine.  What am I missing??  Thanks.

Windows likes to make the last loaded driver the default when it does an I/O scan after drivers installs during an update.  Since we throw 26 drivers into the sound drivers list ,  any of the DAX drivers could be a target ..   Just check your Sounds Properties and make sure that are now green checks on any DAX drivers and your speakers or normal sound output is the default device.   Here is a link to a Help Desk article that helps reset the default.

I am not sure what to do.  I have the pop up window that has "playback - recording - sounds - communications" tabs open.  I'm guessing I need the recording tab.  I have DAX audio RX 1 through RX 8 that show not plugged in ( that have a shaded out microphone image)  .  I then have DAX Audio RX 1 through 8 that all say ready (that have a paired rca plugs image).  Then I have DAX audio RX 1 through  8 that say not plugged in (that have a greyed out computer box image).  Then I have DAX IQ RX 1 through 4 that say not plugged in (with a shaded microphone image).   Then DAX IQ RX 1 through 4 that say ready (with paired rca plugs image).  Then I have DAX IQ RX 1 through 4 that say not plugged in ( that have a greyed out computer box image).  I have a DAX MIC audio (with greyed out microphone) that says not connected.  A DAX mic audio that says Default device with green check mark ( with paired rca jacks).  A DAX Mic audio with image of computer box greyed out that says not plugged in.  A DAX reserved audio TX not plugged in with greyed out microphone. A DAX reserved audio TX that says ready with paired RCA plugs.  A DAX reseerved audio TX with greyed out computer box that says not plugged in.  A Microphone high definition audio device not plugged in with greyed out microphone image. And finally a line-in high definition audio device not plugged in with rca plug image.

I have no idea of what I need to do.  If you could give me a shout at 614-633-9501 I would me most grateful.

Thanks.

My thanks to Dudley and Larry.  Larry pointed out the speakers had to be made default device and that cleared up the PC audio button problem.  We couldn't get the microphone to work, so, he suggested that I try the hand-held microphone that came with the Flex 6300 and it worked just fine.  It looks like I have a problem with my Heil microphone and/or cable.  So, all is well with the world.
Again, thanks to the group for the help provided.

which heil mic are you using, if its a condenser mic like the ICM you have to turn the bias back on in the radio setup.
