Good news: Latest upgrades of SmartSDR & SmartCat installed without a glitche. Bad news. SmartCat destroyed my com ports, making my programs unuseable. My suite of programs are limited in that some can't use com ports higher than 8. I'll have to wait for next version. If anybody has a way around this, I'm willing to listen. bill@w9ol.com

Bill, Remember that you shouldn't run DDUtil Version 2 and 3 at the same time.. You will have to setup DDUtil 3 slightly different than what you had with the 5000. Now if you want you can leave DDUtil 2 loaded so that it works with the 5000 .. it should still work normally .. But with SmartCAT installed , you would need VSP Manager or other Virtual Serial program, Give me a call if you are still confused...

I followed the instructions TOO CLOSELY. I should not have shut down the 5K and DDUt2 prior to installing the new SmartCat I think.that may have prevented SmartCat from changing my com ports. I will test that later. But having said that, I think any program that changes or deletes existing com ports without an users permission is improper. Future users will not be people who just have Flex installed. They will be users who actually use their radios to converse with others in many ways. Those users should NOT have their existing programs altered.

Oh and Dudley. I did NOT try to run DDU2 and DDU3 at the SAME time. DDU2 was closed down as was the 5K and ALL Software, prior to the install of SmartSDR and SmartCAT.
