I have a 'slight' problem using CWSkimmer. Talked to Alex and he suggested asking the group.

1st off Skimmer works well with my Flex5K. Except for one minor annoyance. I position CWS so that the dx station is at the bottom, (also make the window as tall as my monitor) So I'm listening to him, he goes QRZ and I transmit, as I'm up at least 5 and higher with the FT5, the screen jumps up to my QRG. When I stop transmitting, the screen returns to show the FT5 frequency. Alex agrees that this is NOT CORRECT. The focus should not jump to my xmit frequency. Alex said he was not familiar with Flex cat commands and suggested I ask on the Flex group. Just for info, dual monitors with PSDR/DDUT on left and CWSkimmer on right. Don't think that has any bearing but included it anyway. Basically, CWSkimmers screen should not jump to where I'm transmitting and display my cw signal in the waterfall... I know what/where I'm sending. LOL Anybody have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Are you operating in Split?

Absolutely. I really only use CWSkimmer when working DX stations who are operating split. Really don't need it when the DX is simplex. Right now, rig is set up for the FT on 40cw. Split mode with transmit up about 30. If I do a single 'w9ol'. CWSkimmer will usually not jump up to my QRG. If I do a 2x or 3x, it usually does when I stop if jumps back down to the DX station. It's not a major problem, just sort odd to see the screen change and I'd prefer it stayed listening to the DX Station. Not having the biggest antennas, both my qsos (10 and 30) on cw required a fair amount of calling. LOL While I consider myself a cw op, all my previous qsos with FT where on SSB or RTTY. Go figure!

That is the problem. If CWSkimmer is polling the radio's frequency (VFO A) then after you finish transmitting on VFO B, it is going to revert back to VFO A's frequency. The radio is only doing what it is told and answering the questions it is asked ;-)

Yes, I just thought maybe someone had knowledge of a setting such as: "ignore screen change upon transmission" thanks anyway.

Ask Alex how to best configure CWSkimmer when in split mode since we know what the issue is now.

If skimmer is polling only VFO A and Bill is TX on VFO B in split mode then it doesn't make sense for there to be a change in the skimmer display since VFO A is not changing, correct? Also, check out the RigSync software...if I remember correctly you can set it so that clicking on the skimmer display only effects VFO B while VFO A stays on target. Greg

I did, before writing the group. What is needed in CWSkimmer, is a command such as "screen change delay = x seconds" Changing anything in the radio operation could be dangerous. Must avoid hot switching at all cost.
