So this past week I was out at QuartzFest in Quartzsite Az. but I didn't bring my Flex I had an Icom IC-7000 and my SignaLink USB soundcard, OMG!! what a pain in the butt setting all the sound levels on the PC. I sure love the Flex for digi modes!! Next year it's going with me.

I purchased a 6600M for my “road rig” for roughly the same reasons.

A 6400M would have done the trick too.

My reason for an M-model is to allow very quick setup & operation when I didn’t want to boot a computer and power up some network gear.

I plan to use my 6600M "on the road" WITH a computer (before v3). The front panel will have control over all those things the digital programs on the laptop can't control, the radio HDMI connection will go to one projector screen, and the laptop screen will be mirrored to another projection screen to show the digital programs (WSJT-X and Fldigi) and what they are doing.

Absolutely fantastic way to quickly set up at a public venue where our amateur radio club has an information booth, and at a radio club meeting to show off the Flex to members!

A week without your Flex? You are lucky! I have been without my 6300 for nearly 5 months and it looks as though I'll be without for at least the next 3 months.

No, it isn't faulty,it's my wife's fault!

She's not keen on antennas but for the last 4 years I have had a cobweb on the roof. Then I persuaded her that a Hexbeam looked 'nice' and she agreed. Before she could change her mind, I ordered one, that was nearly 2 years ago. I have been quite ill and unable to install the Hex but at long last, I managed it last October and because of my own ineptness managed to screw it up. Unfortunately for me, the weather was not good enough for me to go up on the roof and fix it.

Then, just one week ago, a miracle happened and in the space of 1 day, we managed to sell our house, after 3 years of trying and find a house we both liked. So having an offer for our house, we made an offer for the house we had found and the offer was accepted. Great news, the new house has a room that could have be purpose built for a shack and, even better has 1 acre of land, great for antennas.

So now it isn't worth fixing the Hexbeam until we move and what is worse is that next week I am travelling from France to Florida to attend Hamcation and collect a Flex 6600 to bring back.

So 1 week, I could live with but 8 months....
