Ok.  A little confused.  Setting things up for the flex.  I have a 781 mike.  I have a 3.5mm stereo plug to XLR Female cable CX0076. It's a 3 pin plug.  That cable has a 1/8 plug on the other end. Since the 781 does not have a PTT button, do I use a foot switch to the back of the flex.   Is it a 1/4 inch plug or a 1/8 inch plug.   Can't tell from the picture of the 6400M which it is.

my 6400M has an RCA jack for PTT. I am using the Microphone cable from Flex to my Heil HM_Pro which as the Mic input and RCA for PTT From the manual.
(the RCA plug into the PTT input (see section 5.3.6, PTT Connector).

    RCA Jack

I use a push button https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T6RCGNC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1    connected to a RCA Plug that I can put where ever I like using it mostly hung from my mic boom.  These are about the size of a XLR connector.

You can also use a Heil HS-2 Hand PTT switch if you don't like the Push button.

I also put a RCA "Y" cable in line and then plug the foot switch in so I have both a hand and a foot PTT switch.

Thanks everyone.  My light bulb is a little dim today.  Hi HI.  I have a foot switch FS-2 to key the flex.  When I started to read the replies.  The bulb got brighter.  Trying to have everything ready to go when the Flex gets here.

John be sure once you have it all setup and working to enable dexp and adjust it to eliminate any background fan or equipment noise it works kinda like a squelch it only allows audio to pass when its above the threshold level so like it eliminates background fan noise etc when set properly. It must be disabled for initial setup of your mike levels equalizer etc.

OK.  Need a little direction here.  Used the stock mike and everyone said it sounded real good.  This morning I hooked up the heil 781.  Thought that was easy.  Keyed the rig . no output showing on the meter. I have the 781 as the default in the profiles. The rig is keying, just no output.  Have been going back and forth in the manual.  Can't seem to find the right setting.

Make sure you have the mic input set to the 1/8 jack in the maestro menu. I think its mic 2.

    Yes as Larry said.

Flex has made this someone confusing. They look like menus (and they are) but when you leave the menu system make sure you leave it on the input you want to use or it will not work.

    This is the location.

Larrys edit beat me to the picture

I hate it when it's pilot error or Really dumb things.  The 1/8 inch plug was in but did no click when I installed it this morning at 4 AM.  Thought maybe it was not in all the way when I came back from the local hamfest.  Pushed it and it's working. It's working fine.    Mine does not look like your picture.  I have the M model.  mine has the actual name in the list like heil 781 or HM-Pro.

Just remember those in the list are just a starting point and probably won't be what will sound best for your Voice. Bret WX7Y
