Horizontal lines in waterfall

Any idea what these horizontal lines in the waterfall are? I turned up the waterfall gain so they are more visible.

I'm having an issue with deformed FT8 signals and wonder if these lines are related.

I think It's just changes in the noise floor, any movement will creat a line.

Looks like lightning noise to me: very prevalent this time of year.

Pat, the horizontal lines you see are created by several things. Lightning, sparking switches to just list a couple of them.

Deformed FT-8 signals are usually seen when the transmitting station is running high power or is close to your station. Normally these FT-8 signals present no decode problems.

Broadband noise source.   I have the same lines whenever my Ethernet powerline adaptors are on.
