HF signal combiners to improve HF digital reception using diversity reception.

As the 6700 is currently able to do space diversity receive by using two antennas; would it be possible to include a software combiner for digital signal improvement. As the solar minimum approaches many Hams may shift to the weak signal modes. Perhaps in version 2.0 or beyond options could be provided that will improve performance in this area.

I believe that you can do this in windows already using the "mixer" capability that is in windows.

The combiner that I am thinking of detects the S/N ratio of each signal stream by using a "Narrow Band" pass slot that is close to the receive frequency. The energy in the slot is converted  into a bias which may be a voltage or a numeric value. Using the bias value, the combiner prioritizes which signal will be the primary contributor to the output of the combiner. This technique has been used for signal improvement in Troposcatter and independent sideband for a least 50 years. I know the Flex engineers can come up with something better than what I used 50 years ago. Besides it would be another challenge for them. As if they needed more :)  Thanks Mike, AG6BF
