I have my flex 6500 setup to run digital modes fb. Been trying to get JT65 to transmit and no luck. I can get JT65 to work on my ft5k but I am not setting something right in transmit (dax) with my flex..

Thanks...

Hi Don - A couple of quick things that are "easy fixes" --

Is the DAX button illuminated in the P/CW pane?
Is your PTT working?
Is the TX button illuminated in the DAX control panel (corresponding to the DAX channel in use)?
Are the devices selected in your application the correct DAX TX channels - not the "Reserved" ones?

Let's start there...

I tried 3 jt-65 programs. I couldn't`t get Transmit to work either.

I have a 6500 also.

Have you tried to see if you can key PTT by setting the VOX on.

I leave the VOX on and I can use HRD on other mode/band with a different slice.

For example JT65/9 on slice A and RTTY/PSK etc... on another slice.

Or, if you radio has 7 slices; I monitor different modes/bands at the same time. Then I switch to the slice of interest to carry a conversation.

if you use DxLabs Commander, it's a piece of cake, IMHO

I've been using WSJTX 1.5 lately, I had to revert to using TS-2000 Cat for now. Commanders last update sends replys with the wrong mode description. works fine as TS-2000 on a SmartCat port for the CAT portion. I use a SmartCAT dedicated/PTT RTS port to trigger the PTT though. I needed it at some point for something else It just keeps working, so I keep doing the PTT seperately.

If PTT is the problem, ensure that either a) PTT command is being sent through CAT, or b) that you have established a PTT port in SmartCAT using the matching RTS or DTR value your application is.

I am using WSJT-X, r3673  with the TS-2000 protocol & DEDICATED PTT/RTS SmartCAT port with no problems, the Flex-6700 and also the Flex-6300 flows band change from the WSJT-X  and triggers the PTT automatically.

SmartCAT is misleading in that it suggests using COM 4 to connect to the Flex6K for control of the rig. Always create a new port. I am not an expert my any means and you will probably have to experiment with the different types, but that should just be a mere 30 seconds.

Now I have had sometime to play. I installed (Omni-rig ) had to go find it in the C:\  so that messed me up for one of the Jt-65 programs. You set it up for Kenwood TS-2000. I guess it runs in the back ground. Then whom ever mentioned setting up (Virtual-port) this helped another jt65 program going so one more for another day and I will have 3 programs of Jt-65 going Not all at once of course. LoL

See picture of added virtual ports add them and try using those for your jt-65 program you  are using. DAX-RX-1 and DAX-TX-1 all set.

These were 3 different authored programs I tried. None would transmit before.

Thanks everyone`s comments for giving me ideas to look into it.

I hope this helps someone. 73 Jeff

Hi, OmniRig not required.

If you want snaps of my settings, my email on QRZ.COM is good. SmartCAT is the only virtual port software you should need.

Nice thing about DAX and Smart CAT is that you can have all three running at once. Just establish unique ports and audio paths for each one. I run WSJT-X, FLDigi, and WSJT-10 (for meteor scatter) on different slices simultaneously without the computer or rig breaking a sweat. Enjoy!

Hello George,

How about teaching an old dog some new tricks? Please explain how you do the setup. I just need a little help to get me thinking in the right direction.

Thank you
