I know just enough to be dangerous (my downfall) and not enough to be sure of my current VPN setup. Let me describe both ends of my "remote" situation.
NOTE: I can currently control all peripheral equipment via Ethernet from Home and I can currently control the 6700 via the PPtP VPN connection.
AT THE REMOTE:
Asus router configured for PPtP VPN (Server)
All radio hardware... 6700, amplifier, antenna switches etc
AT HOME (10 miles away)
1:Asus router (no vpn configured)
2: SSDR 1.8 and many other ham programs on a dedicated Ham PC
3: The dedicated PC uses the Win 7 built in vpn that is directed to the remote router and connects fine to the Remote router
NOW: 2 questions.....
1: Maestro cannot currently see the remote 6700 and I assume it is because the vpn link is dedicated to the local Ham PC.. Is this most likely correct?
2: Is there a program I could use locally to allow the Maestro to connect to the 6700?
I just took the Maestro out to the Remote and it does in fact work there locally.
Any help appreciated and obviously needed since 1.8 did NOT allow vpn connections :-(
