Heil PR781 settings.???

I think allot of folks are using the Heil Pr781 mic on the 6000 series radios. Since I want to use the 781 with 2 transceivers to reduce desk clutter, I have a Rolls MS20c audio splitter in the Mic line, I'm just wondering if the Mic settings that I am using are about the "Norm" for everyone else.

I have the mic preamp (+20) ON, The Mic gain at 60 seems to be right to get maximum modulation audio without hitting the "RED zone" on the level meter.

Not sure about whether I need to even use the equalizer function in SmarSDR with this Mic??

Haven't tried the processor yet, so just looking at the basic Mic gain settings at this point.

Thanks for the help......73

The mic gain settings sound about right.

Everyone will need to use the EQ for any mic used.  No one has perfectly flat frequency response voice characteristics, so you will need the EQ to compensate.

Always use the PROC (voice processor).  Never turn it off.  The difference between on and off is truly night and day.  It will come very close to doubling your talk power without coloring your audio.
