I just purchased a FLEX 6500 from another ham and need to transfer my call to the radio. If that something that is done by sending in a trouble ticket or is there a better way?

The software license is tied to the S/N of the radio, not your call.  If it's just the display on the 6500 LCD, you can change that yourself in Radio Settings in SSDR.

Fire up your flex SmartSDR software on your pc. click on Setting, in the upper left. On the Radio tab, put your call sign, in the space for it and what ever nickname you want to display. If you then click on the nickname it will turn blue and the radio will display that. If you click on the callsign, then it displays your call.

    Hope that helps.

If you want to tie the  radio to your smartlink account, just choose Smartlink Setup when the radio chooser is presented when you start SmartSDR. Its so simple you want to make it more complicated than it really is!
