Here's a wild story, made possible through remote operation. I just worked the South Sandwich Island expedition on 30m CW using my iPhone to connect and operate my 6500 at home from the parking lot at work. CWX works like a champ! Having a blast with my Flex!

Remote to my Mac desktop. Connection at home and work is gigabit fiber, which really helps things along. It's like being home, just a lot smaller!

SSB? Sounds like a sewage volcano to me :-) Try the dulcet tones of Morse telegraphy, Howard. Most fun way to work DX.

(I'm just messing with Howard, please no mode-themed flames.)

I have no plans to don my scuba gear to search the bottom of Lake Ontario for my morse key tied to a lead brick.

Whew... after quite a few tries I managed VP8STI on CW at 7.023.  I used Salvador's technique except I didn't use skimmer.

I listened for him to send a call then send the 5NN and then watched the pan to figure out who/where was replying and quickly set my TX slice just 0.5 above that spot each time.

Took about 10 calls but it was a great feeling when he came back WS7M 5NN.

Now I know I was not 5NN but I had my little 1KFA putting out everything it could muster into my little EF wire and it worked.

Totally sold on pan adapters now.  I never would have figured that out with out the visual display.
