Thanks for the link.  Good talk by Steve.  A 6700 on the International Space Station!?  That's cool.

Neat stuff. At times I had difficulty understanding the finer points of the discussions due to a lack of knowledge but a year ago I would have been much worse off. I like how FRS is so "flexible" wrt providing information about their product and what they hope to achieve in the future.

Excellent presentation.  Steve gave us a taste in this post last week about RMDR and other issues:

It was very nice to see the whole presentation.
Thanks,

During the presentation on the WNB (around the 24 minute mark) Steve appeared to be playing back a recording of a chunk of spectrum and turning the noise blanker on and off as part of the demo. He said, "This was recorded by one of our customers."  I was under the impression that wideband record/playback was not available in SmartSDR. Is this not the case? How was he doing that? Or was this just a video of something a customer recorded?

I think the customer may have been using one of many screen capture video recording programs?  Either that or he had a very steady hand with his camera.

I suspect you're right Ken. Spectrum capture/playback is a feature I'd love to have but I think the architecture of the 6000 series makes it somewhat impractical. I did get my hopes up for a minute though :-)

I need to find a good screen video capture program.  I would like to begin recording some tutorials to post on Youtube.  I tried one, but it filled my computer up with junk-ware and unneeded trash/spyware/autoloading web-pages, etc.  I hate that!

I would like something that I can tap into the 6500 audio output -- either the PC-Remote, or a DAX channel, and tap the USB output of my mike mixer at the same time.  I would like to easily change the gain as I record so I can narrate, and then switch to the rig to demonstrate the effects of control changes, etc.

Well in this case, it was Dave, WO2X's recording of WNB made on a cell phone that he sent out here on the community.

Yes, I used my iPhone to record it. For the line noise I get here the new WNB is remarkable. In some cases it is the difference between the band being "closed or "open".

Ken,

https://obsproject.com/ is amazing, open source, easy to use, and free. It has multiple audio sources - for example, I can have a DAX channel and audio from my MBOX both including in the video. Makes narration a breeze. You can see the results for yourself:
