Hi Gang.. Sorry if this has been covered before, I've trawled through several pages on here..
I only have the one Ethernet Port on the back of my PC, and wonder if I can use a 5 Way Ethernet Switch (for example) to connect both my Flex 6300 AND my Internet Router directly into, then into my PC from the switch without any risk of clashes or crashes??
Would value others' comments..

I think it would be better to connect your router directly to your PC and then connect your 6300 to a port on the router.  That's how I have mine set up.

I don't see that you need an Ethernet switch unless you exceed the ports on your router.

Terry - I'm not sure exactly how you have things set up, but if I understand correctly, it should work just fine. You don't require your Flex to be directly connected to the PC. In fact, my guess is that 99.9% of all users have their radio connected into a switch of some sort.

Give it a try and it will work just fine. The good news is that it will either work or not work. You won't break anything if it doesn't work. Mike va3mw

My 5-port gigabit switch is connected to my Flex-6500, my shack notebook and my main server. This setup works absolutely stable without crashes. I only have to be careful to start my router first as it is also my DHCP server.

I have what you describe a Router connected to a switch and the PC's and Flex Radio connected to the Switch. There are 3 PC's and a printer Plus the Flex Radio (6500) connected to the switch.
And yest the Router needs to serve as the DHCP server. It's not necessary to connect to the router direct.

Thank you for all your replies.. my router is downstairs, whilst my Flex is upstairs in the shack, so I'll connect to the 'network' and go from there.. 73 de Terry, G0TMX.
