First, thanks to all for your suggestions on this topic I have tried to upload the graphics explaining the Cable hardware and setup for the Flex to Expert cable but have failed after graphic #1.. This comes from Bob KC9RF who laid it out very nicely for anyone wanting to build their own Expert interface. It is now crystal clear to me.. at last...Email me from QRZ and I will send you the 4 page PDF. K6ZA

Barry got me going from a QSO we had on the air. If you want to roll your own cable here is an an example of how I did mine.  Next four pages. Barry has the PDF or email me as well.

When I bought my 2K-FA I also bought Dan’s cable. I could not build one any better for the price he charged. 100 % reliability using 6500 and the SPE. I Also use the SPE app for complete hands free operation of the amp.

Hi Bob, no problem here also. When I was making my own decision about wether to build or buy, I had a discussion with Dan, and he sent this statement which influenced me because I wanted remote turn on on the SPE.
I quote:
“ The FlexRadio interface cable is a little more involved as I had to add a small DC to DC boosting board to help with the Remote On feature. The SPE linear needs a minimum of +5.1vdc to turn On but the FlexRadio's only has a +4.95vdc switch source. The DC boosting board bumps the +4.95v up to +11.8vdc so the linear's Remote On feature works now. “

For the above reason is why I bought his cable. When I received it, the build quality was superb. I am not against home brew stuff. I am a long time builder since my teens as well in my working career. Now my eye sight has become a problem with small things. So I limit myself to doing antenna stuff.
