Excess Latency

I have been experiencing an issue with the max latency reported by my Maestro and 6700 ever since changing over to v2. There were some configuration changes at that time, specifically I assigned the radio a static IP.

The problem exhibits itself in two ways.

1. When first powering up, sometimes the max latency is excessive (400+msec). I notice it because of the status color of the link.

2. I can make this reoccur by simply changing bands using my global profiles. Sometimes I have to change bands 2-3 times, but for sure when I do this I get a long latency.

Now, there are no missing packets, it seems like when the radio is powering up or changing bands, the link between them is interrupted briefly. But, TCP eventually gets the packets through.

During normal operation (not changing bands) I can sit operational for long periods with no issue.

A bit odd.

Doug, make sure your internet speed is good, and the ping time is small.  These issues will cause latency issues with your rig.  I had latency problems with my 6500, and after the cable company reset my modem and got my speed back up things were better at 107 ms.  73,  Hank K9LZJ

Hmmm. Did not think of that. I am not using Smart Link externally when this occurs, I thought all IP traffic between the Maestro and radio would stay inside my network.

My internet speed is good, but the latency is so-so, as it is LTE based.

The latency when changing profiles is normal.  The radio is busy changing the profile and not sending keepalive packets to the client.

Yes, but I used to watch the max latency closely before, and it was always low, even when changing profiles. I see max latencies now sometimes over one second, with zero dropped packets, when changing profiles. This just started with V2, and some of my network changes to support V2 like the static IP.

FYI,
With 2.0.19 the max latency when changing profiles is much lower now. Still not like it was with V1, with regards to changing profiles, but much better than 2.0.17.
