Does flex offer a way to utilize my GPS to control my COMPUTER clock?
Options
I've been working a lot of the new digital modes, JT9, JT65 etc.
Both programs rely on accurate time management.
Seeing as how I already have a high buck GPS in my radio, I wondered if there is away that I could, OR FLEX COULD, use that to keep the computer clock in sync. Hint, Hint????
I've been reading the Flex files and can find no way to use the Flex GPS clock to sync my ham computer.
Now I'd rather have CWX, but is this a possible side benefit that could be programed into SmartSDR?

Bill,
See this link....it was suggested a while back and has been marked as "under consideration." It has 18 votes so far.

I don't remember seeing any more recent updates.

You can sync your computer to a time server on the internet and get it within milliseconds. Is there a reason I am unaware of that it needs to be more accurate? I don't see this one being as important as the NB which isn't on the road map at this point.

Jon,
Agree there are many more important things (at least for most of us). I expect Bill would agree also.
In addition to the benefit mentioned for the digital modes (which others can explain better) I think another benefit will eventually be for distributed diversity reception. (i.e. linking multiple radios). V 1.3 includes simple diversity, (not sure what this includes) and don't know what complex diversity is or when it would arrive but synchronizing the time may be a prerequisite.
And synchronizing all of your computers is just another potential benefit.
