Short of shutting down the Maesto, is there a way to disconnect from the 6700 so that I can connect using SSDR?

No.  You have to shut down one client (maestro) in order to use a different one (SmartSDR for Windows).  We are considering a feature to force close the client connection on the radio when a new client connects.
