Received invoice for my 6400 on Wednesday 5/30. started a transfer to pay for it and told flex I would pay on Friday or Monday.  Do you want a deposit to hold it?? "No thats OK we have plenty"  Transfer showed up today and was gonna pay and got . . .

SORRY we don't have any now . . . It will be 4 to 8 weeks now.
So now I'm off the air for 2 months as my 6300 is sold and shipped.

Flex you need to get your act together. This is BS.

Steve, we understand and appreciate your frustration and disappointment.  We believed at that time we had enough stock to fulfill the Hamvention orders and have stock available for new orders.  It is our contract manufacturer who builds the radios and manages component sourcing for those builds.

A recent issue related to needed components for the 6400 builds was made known to us late Friday.  We apologize for the delay and are working very hard to pull that date in from the stated 4-8 weeks.  There are some things that are just out of our control which come up like this that makes us scramble to resolve.  We even had meetings this weekend to discuss the matter and formulate our plan of action to bring about a quick resolution.

We apologize for the delay as it was not expected and whomever you spoke to you over the phone provided you accurate information as it was known to them at that time.

Tim . . . I disagree. When i placed my order I was told if I pay today it will ship today. Which meant you had stock. I asked if Friday or Monday would be fine and was told no problem we'll ship the day you pay.. I even offered a deposit to hold it for the day. I was told it was not needed.
Well guess what . . .

Radios are built to order; we use a JIT process. So yes, we had on hand stock, and we shipped those order and would have placed your order with our contract manufacturer at the time of payment.

Well maybe you need to change from a JIT process. I find it ridiculous that one day I'm told it is available here is your invoice . . . give us your money and the next day it is a 8 week wait. It is not like I didn't try to have it held for a day or 2. There are no Flex radio's available, I believe, except for the almost $8000 flex 6700.

Typical Flex BS. Now go ahead and close the thread

Steve I understand your frustration, however it is possible that the person you talked to didn't know the stock level and was wrong at the time. There may have been no stock left and he was wrong. I know it is frustrating not having one of the best radios out there. I too was flexless for a time and went through the Flex withdrawal syndrome. Don't worry it will come and you will be glad when it does. Flex is the best in customer service of all the radio manufacturers out there and responsive to their customers. In looking around here on the community I have found references to other PEN announcements and this last one...I ask you, what radio manufacturers have come back to their customers and said there is a problem and here is the fix. Oh, okay, you are not comfortable doing the fix, well send it in and we'll fix it and pay shipping both ways thank you very much. I ask...Who does that??

73 for now

That is not what happened as sales talked to order and shipping to verify availability before they got back to me . Shipping said we can send out as soon as invoice is paid as we have plenty. There is no assumption that A didnt know what B was doing and vise versa and there was no miscommunication as to when they were gonna get paid. If they said we can’t hold it the day or two I would have come up with a plan “B”

Hi Steve

Tim is 100% correct in what he is saying with regards to stocking.

It does us no good not to convey the truth in stock and shipping of inventory.

That being said, this is best handled as a private transaction between you and I and we are sorry you got impacted by the inventory issue.

From Sales

From what I understand, as long as you pay before it will actually ship, that is ok.  If you are delayed, that isn't a problem, and they will ship on the next available day once you pay.  That might take a day or 2 as they plan/work shipments days ahead.

Since we ship so many radios in a day, it is far more complicated that it is for you or I who only ship 1 item a day.

Since Steve's order fulfillment issue is being addressed internally and an explanation has been provided, I am inclined to close this post at this time.
