Digital Modes via SmartLink using virtual audio

I operated my Flex-6500 on PSK-31 over SmartLink for about 6 hours this AM in support of local scouts for the JOTA event.  Two virtual audio "cables" provided RX and TX audio from/to the radio.  Worked perfectly over wireless.  Using a remote station made it much easier to setup for the event--one less antenna and the related frequency conflicts.  Having DAX would be easier, but the virtual cables worked fine.

I have the VAC - Virtual Audio Cables installed. http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm  I am unable to find a way of setting this up to direct sound to my  DM780 program.  Sound is directed to my computers speakers.  Could you provide any help with regard to the way that you have set up your VAC set-up.  73 Hugh EI9KF

Okay.  I was connected to my Flex via SmartLink using a public WiFi connection.  I used two virtual audio cables, which I will refer to as "A" and "B".  I was using FLDigi, but the principle should be the same.

On the SmartSDR panadapter screen, I had the REMOTE button clicked on.

The FLDigi Capture (receive) audio was set to Virtual Cable B output
The FL Digi Playback (transmit) audio was set to Virtual Cable A input

On the PC, the Virtual Cable B Input was set as the default playback device, forcing the PC audio onto Virtual Cable B.  The Virtual Cable A Output was set to the default recording device.

Worked like a charm.   There may be other ways to use the virtual cables, but this worked fine for me on FT-8 with WSJT-X and PSK-31 with FLDigi.
