Hi all,

I am searching for the D-STAR waveforms to download. It is not to be found on the Flex site, so does anyone still have a copy of the installer?

Hi Volker,

I do have a copy of the DSTAR waveform, but please do NOT install the old waveform because it is not working at all. Performance is very very bad and not usable via DSTAR-repeaters. I am for several years waiting for an updated version, but i have given up hope. The same is true for the FreeDV waveform, that can destroy a LDMOSfet amplifier.

Hi Hans,

if it is possible just share it with me and I will try. I am already aware of the problems, just curious if this works at all since I am responsible for our local DSTAR repeaters.

Maybe you can share it by mail (let ́s see if it is blocked). Volker.Geith@gmail.com

I still use ThumbDV 1.1.0 (D-Star waveform). It's not in the download section anymore.
Only FreeDV waveform here: https://www.flexradio.com/downloads/
@Hans PA0HWB: Is there a newer version out?
@Tim W4TME: Why has the D-Star waveform diappeared? Problems with it?

Hi Alex,
I don't think there is an updated version of the DSTAR waveform out yet. In the latest version  serious timing problems occured and to be transmitted audio was broken up in a way that the last part of the audio was transmitted in the next TX-action.
The FreeDV waveform is/was incorrect in choosing USB instead of LSB on 160m,80m and 40m as FreeDV is an analog mode, not a digital mode and could also cause unwanted nasty spikes.

Thank you for the info, Hans.

If you have a special USB Stick, yes. And, if the additional software works which it appearently does not currently.

I am the NCS of the International DSTAR HF Testing Net. We meet 3 times a week. I currently use a FLEX 6600 and a DV300 USB DSTAR stick.  The FLEX does work on DSTAR repeaters AND on HF. However, there still is a minor flaw in the FLEX DSTAR waveform. It seems to have a timing issue. You wind up receiving a sliver of the PRIOR decoded signal. A little disconcerting, but still it works. All of us were "waiting" for FLEX to fix this issue. Seems instead they just removed selling the stick and the Waveform file and instructions without comment. I still have copies of both, and NWDigital should be selling the DV3000 stick again.

– WINTER Schedule –

Use your FLEX 6xxx series radios and a ThumbDV.

Here is some video from Mark, of DSTAR HF Voice simplex on a 7100

We routinely have two way communications coast to coast and North to South, South to Canada, Europe and Australia when the bands are open. We have had two way contacts to Japan. And have been heard in South Africa and Bulgaria.

We are on each band only for 5 min. or so as to spend less time, if the band is dead we move on earlier. You can go back to a good freq after the net. MONITOR REF030C to coordinate. WE may need to move early or if the freq is busy. We do not want to step on any AM or SSB activity.

We also use a web page to keep track of who and where we are at -     http://hf.dstar-relay.net/

You also can check-in to this web site anytime 24/7 to find a DSTAR HF Ham to talk to.

We have a PRENET for 30 min. before the start of the scheduled time. This PRENET is for ‘FREE FORM” contacts. One should check the web site  http://hf.dstar-relay.net/  sign in and find a working freq to work on. When the net starts at the scheduled time, please join the net and follow the freqs.

I also have the hardware, purchased last year. Would love to play with it and have the last released (buggy) version of the Dstar Waveform. I did install it on version 3, just to see if I could and it installed. However, was wondering if there are any updates on a newer version of either this or DV since this discussion started? I understand, hopefully correctly, that these are being developed by 3rd party?

I think the last version was 1.1.0.14 before FLEX took it out of the download area. I am the NCS of the International DSTAR HF Voice Net. I use a FLEX6600 and a Elecraft KPA-1500 to run the net 3 times a week. It works, even with issues. I have been "promised" that FLEX will update the software, some time when they have the time...
