This is second time this has been noted. Tim said it was normal PA operation but I have never seen this before and it worries me. during a long CQ qso temp goes up to 70C and power output drops to 81 watts. power supply voltage is keydown 13.8 volts and swr is 1.2.1. How can this be normal. Anyone else see this?

That is common for such long key downs at a 100w. Heat can not harm your radio. As you have noticed the power dropped a bit to help things out and it should do that. If it gets into over temp, the power will drop a lot further and even shut down the radio. The radio is very thermal protected.
Make sure your radio has plenty of space for ventilation.
