CQ WW SSB with N1MM+ and Version 2 as remote

I am considering operating in the CQ WW SSB contest next weekend.  I will be away from the home station so using the V2 remote will be the required method.  Although I operate my station remotely alot to work DX I have not done so using N1MM+ before.  I am looking for a few pointers on the best way to set it up.  I also have a Maestro available to use as the radio control interface or a laptop.

I have no issues with using V2 remote now and I have tested that I have N1MM+ setup thru V2 SmartCat to control the rig frequency.  I am most interested in the setup of Audio WAV messages in N1MM+ and how that gets properly passed to the radio from the remote.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi John,

See the official guide. You can ignore the SO2R parts:

Just a note, DAX currently does not work over remote SmartLink (yet) -- this will prevent you from using N1MM+'s internal DVK functionality :-(

If you go back to Layer2 VPNs though and do it yourself without SmartLink, it does work.

Bill thank you for bringing that up.  I was aware and disappointed that DAX was not handled with the release of V2.  WAN operation was promised not WAN for only CW and SSB.  I already expressed my disappointment and now just need to hope Flex fixes it in the near future.  I still have my VPN setup and will use that for the contest instead of SMartLink.

I am also aware that I could go about setting up Virtual Audio Cables but I have no interest in adding that overhead and complexity especially for a contest.  I prefer to KISS.

John, Although I understand your frustration, there are a number of workarounds to get qrv.   This and a number of different issues are documented and on the "future fix list".  If you want to chat about any of this stuff feel free to PM me and I will do what I can to help.  I am good on QRZ.
