Controls for the blind or visually busy user

In our radio club we have two blind operators.  One uses a screen reader (JAWS) that keys in on tags assigned to input boxes.  This question also applies to mobile (read Distracted driving legislation in various states and provinces).

Is there any experience in the Amateur community or (FRS?) in military with voice command or computer control for SmartSDR?  There are many experiments and enhancements that connect with a Flex, but anything that will help the blind or hands free operation? (with no peeking at a screen)

Hi I am a totally blind user of a Flex 6300. Unfortunately Smart SDR is totally inaccessible with a screen reader. Smart SDR for iOS is also inaccessible. Right now the only option (is it really an option if there is only one?) that we have is JJ Radio from:

Has any progress been made on making the software work with assistive technologies?

Frank Im sure you have adapted well, I personally dont think I would be able to adjust or do much if I ever went blind, I admire your flexibility.

    Rory, re any progress:
I was hoping that someone/anyone would have been contacted by Flex software development (Eric, are you listening) about what changes to the GUI could be made, or assistance / funding from organizations that work with the disabled, or ask which organizations may be useful resources.
One of our two has since died and the other prefers older ICOM gear because it gives him status feedback. BTW he was one of our FD operators this last year.
