I have a new Flex 6600 with a Windows 10 Home up to date PC and SmartSDR ver 2.1.33, my radio is CAT wired to my router. Since maybe a day or two ago SmartSDR will close and I will get the following message:

Connection Lost
SmartSDR for Windows has lost connection to the radio.
Please reconnect.

I open again SmartSDR and reconnect and within a few minutes later the same thing.

I would try running a network cable direct to your computer and try it for a few days that way to see if maybe your router is having an issue?

Next to that is a call to FRS.

There seems to be an issue with V2 losing connection with not only Antenna Genius but also the Flex radio.... Read the posts on the Antenna Genius losing connection

I'm having connections problems with a 6600 as well, not narrowed fault yet.
Ethernet connection meter in lower right will change, sometimes down to red but has only lost connection maybe 3 times.

I'm suspecting my computer at this time however its same computer I ran my 6300 on for years

    Mark,

Which version of software are you using? You should be using the latest public release version as it will have the latest bug fixes.

    Juan,

If you happen to be by the radio when you get the "lost connection" message check the power button light.  It should flash a code sequence that will provide why the radio shutdown.  The flashing codes are listed in the new 6600 hardware manual.   It could be a fan issue or software crash but the light sequence will help in troubleshooting the issue.  How many times does the power button light flash?

My version of SSDR did that to me 2.1.32, until I updated to 2.1.33 and it fixed it for me.

I don't think the radio was shutting down according to the first message. It was just losing connection and the SmartSDR program shutting down.

This was happening to me with my 6400 when I first got it, but doesn't do it anymore. Didn't change anything (or upgrade to the latest )

Alan,  My question was directed to Juan.  It is my understanding that the new 6400/6600 radios will sometimes automatically reboot which I have seen happen with mine.   Unless you are actually looking at the radio you might not notice it reboots on its own, hence, that's why I mentioned it.  Only trying to help here......

Did your PC recently go through a Windows 10 OS update?  I have experienced updates where Microsoft resets many system parameters to "green" values, that is to save energy.  I'd check the settings of your network card in Device Manager.  Make sure everything is set to "full bore."  I cannot remember the exact parameters as I'm sitting in our Florida winter home without my Flex 6300.  As I recall, there are 2 - 3 that allow your network card to save energy or turn off after so much inactivity.  With my PC, router and radio, resetting the network card to maximum performance/energy consumption, the network connection health returns to 100% good/green.

Mack, I'm using the latest release v2.1.33 with Windows 10 Home up to date.

It is strange that I don't see my 6600 when connected with the provided ethernet to my PC, smartSDR said that there is no radio, only when I connected via ethernet to my router.

How many times does the 6600 power button should flash when turn on and off (green) ?
Mine does about 15-25 slow when turn on and about the same but faster when powering off, all in green, maybe there is an indication here...

Also I have been considering uninstall all software and perhaps if OK to reset to factory setting the 6600 and start all over again ?

    Hi Juan,

Have you gone into your new PC Sysyem Settings and set up the power  settings to High Performance and also insure that sleep modes for your PC are all off.  Especially for the LAN and USB ports.

If your connected directly to the 6600 from the PC via an Ethernet cable but nothing else is connected then the 6600 is trying to obtain a DHCP address from your computer. If your computer is not connected to the network then its IP address will default to 169.****.****.**** and if your 6600 has previously been connected to your router its IP address is different then the 169.****.****.**** so its not visible to the 6600 unless your computer is set to supply an IP adx via DHCP.

Just making a possible guess you know more about how your stuff is setup than I do.

I have not did a direct connection but typically a PC is not capable out of the box to work as a DHCP server. I have no idea what Flex is doing but possible when the radio can see there is no DHCP server available and that there is a default 169.x.x.x device on the network it will add assign the radio a 169.x.x.x address.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned... is what brand / model of router... I have in the past had router changing IP by itself.  Get into router, update firmware if needed, go look at attached devices to see what IP the router assigned to the radio. Also you may want to go look at LOG to see traffic to / from IP's. I use WinBlows  10 Pro & haven't had any real problems.... So.. look at working IP & when you lose connection, go back to Attached devices, refresh & see if the IP changed....  OH..  Also , you may want to go look & see if some other device is grabbing the IP after you've had connection ...

Mark.. I think that the computer has no way of issuing an IP, where as a Router can ...

Had 6300 for years and now have 6600, both connect directly with standard Ethernet cable or thru my switch(router) which is connected to the house and internet.

Running win 7 and win 10

I want to update: I solve my Connection Lost by doing a Network Switch: 6600 to Network Switch via CAT6, PC to Network Switch via CAT6 and Internet Router to Network Switch via CAT6. Now SmartSDR ver 2.1.33 has communication all the time to the PC and to the internet. All do now I have to solve the UPnP Port Forwarding but that is an issue with my ISP (next project) !

Thanks ALL for their answers, comments and suggestions, always welcome.
