Connecting programs using SmartCAT

Is it possible to connect more than one third party program to a single radio (6300)?  I use Ham Radio Deluxe, which is on COM4 but I would like to also use the classic analogue S-meter from Woodbox.  I can have either the meter or HRD but not both together.  I have tried setting up shared ports but this does not work.  Anyone managed to do this?

Thanks

Setup one or more dedicated ports. That should work

Are you actually using HRD to control ur Radio?

Frankly it does not do much except emulate a legacy radio front panel

If not, do not use. HRD itself as it is a complete resource hog.

Also there is no good reason to use slow CAT ports when you can use speedy Telnet ports

Use DDUTIL to provide frequency info to various devices and it creates a speedy telnet. Connection for HRD logbook and DM780.

Also set up separate DEDICTED ports for Each CAT device such as the S-Meter
