Clive dropped me a note that my JT sig was a tad bad.

I've known Clive for a while and worked him on most band/modes. Today on 12 JT was a new one.
I just got an email from him saying the signal was a tad strange. Multiple traces
Normally, you do NOT adjust the vfo when working JT but his signal was at the very high edge of the passband, It's tough to retune a JT signal by moving the frequency. You may loose the signal and not find it very easily.
So while I was still 'inside' the passband, I was at the very high edge.
So that may have contributed to the multiple traces he saw (Clive  sent me a screen shot).
i WAS at the very high end of the 3.0K passband. Still inside but just barely.
Next time I'll adjust the vfo.

Your problem was likely because you tried to transmit outside of the transmit passband

When you are working at the high end of the JT65

.. just increase your transmit pass bandwidth to 4K and you will not have to touch the tuning dial

Actually if you really want a clean signal... reduce the transmit pass bandwidth.. by increasing the low cut off and high cut off.. just center it around the received signal...

I was so surprised that he came back to me, he caught me by surprise.
Normally when I see sigs at the edges, I do just that, drag the whole passband so the signal is centered. I just dragged the high end up and obviosly that wasn't far enough.

I've got about 2k JT qsos and this was the first time I had a signal so far from middle.

working him and recentering into the passband.
I made the passband too wide and was to far to the right (passband speaking, not politically) LOL The pic he sent me showed 4 close together traces.
