Choosing sideband for cw questiion.

I see in the setup that you can choose which sideband you want for cw.  Can you program (or save) that choice depending on which band you are on?  For example, I'd like to use LSB for 160, 80, and 40m while using USB for the others.  This would allow me to have cross-mode contacts on the bands without having to go back to the set-up.

This is a global radio parameter and cannot be assigned by mode.  You can configure a global profile to set it.

However, I am not sure why you would want to change it. This parameter does not set upper or lower sideband or have anything to do with band conventions.  This parameter only affects how a CW signal is tuned.  CWL and CWU alters the tone pitch with tune direction.  Its effect is similar to how a signal is tuned when in a particular sideband mode (LSB, the edge of the filter opposite of the carrier is lower in frequency.  For USB, the filter edge is higher in frequency).

Just so I understand.....Are you wanting, for example, to be able to listen to a LSB Signal on 80 while in CW mode by setting your receive filters wide?

As Tim suggested, you can set up two Global Profiles - one for CW/U and another for CW/L and change them when you change bands.  that would be the quickest way....or just go to Setup and change it - about three mouse clicks.

Another option:  Use a second slice and tune the SSB station in USB or LSB with the proper filters.  That way, your CW signal can be set to whatever tone you want the other station to hear you just by changing your CW slice's frequency.

There are several OPs, especially 6 meter operators,  who have requested a "CW in SSB" option.  That would be a very nice addition someday.

I agree, CW in SSB mode would be a VERY desirable addition as I am also a 6m op.  Thanks for the responses.
